Lion on the Loose in Bedford? Multiple Big-Cat Sightings in Residential Neighborhood - Paw Nation

By Sara Tan Oct 8th 2012

According to The Telegraph, two dog walkers claim to have seen a lion stalking an estate in Bedford, U.K. They reported that the "orange and brown" animal had been prowling around the neighborhood.

Earlier this summer, the Essex police force held a full-scale lion hunt following claims that a wild animal was on the loose.

The first female eyewitness told officers that she came face-to-face with the lion while she walked her Yorkshire Terriers. "I couldn't believe it. My two dogs were shaking. It was too big to be a domestic cat and it was definitely a wild animal. I know what I saw, and he looked at me," said the woman.

When Sharon Underwood saw this report in the paper, she was prompted to report her sighting as well. Underwood said she saw the animal several weeks ago in the same neighborhood. "It looked like it was in stalk mode and was in a position that looked like it was going to pounce."

Earlier this summer, a Maine Coon cat named Teddy confused citizens with his large size.
